5 Things I Do EVERY Month to Keep My Website + Online Presence Fresh (and Bringing in Vancouver Clients!)

It’s starting to feel like spring here in Vancouver, which means it’s time for one of my favourite rituals: a full refresh of my digital presence.

In competitive urban markets, wellness clinics operate in dense search environments where visibility can shift quickly. New providers enter the market, competitors update their websites, and Google’s local rankings continuously evolve.

This is why a “set it and forget it” approach no longer works.

Whether you run a well-established clinic or are working to strengthen your presence in a crowded city market, your website and online listings function as active infrastructure for patient acquisition. If they are not maintained, visibility gradually declines and prospective patients choose other providers who are easier to find.

So each month, I review a few key areas to ensure my online presence remains accurate, visible, and conversion-ready.

These five actions help maintain:

• Search visibility in competitive local markets

• Trust signals for prospective patients

• Alignment between services, messaging, and inquiries

• Consistent discoverability on Google

1. I Audit My Website

Why I do it:
My site is basically my business assistant. It's where people land when they Google things like “Vancouver SEO consultant”.

And ideally, the same is true for your practice. When someone searches for a specific service in your area, for example “trauma therapist in North Vancouver,” your clinic should be easy to find and clearly positioned as a relevant option.

What I do:

  • Re-read my homepage with fresh eyes (like I’m someone who does not know anything about my business yet)

  • Remove any outdated offers, services, or awkward wording

  • Make sure my CTAs still make sense and actually lead somewhere

  • Add new testimonials or visuals if things are feeling stale

Why it works: It keeps my messaging sharp, my site aligned with what I actually offer now and it gives my best friend Google that signal that I’m active, relevant and ready to do business.

2. I Update My Google Business Profile (It’s Totally Free Real Estate, Friends)

Why I do it:
The
Google Business Profile is seriously the most underrated free marketing tool available. Almost half of wellness practitioners ignore it.

Meanwhile, this profile has gotten me inquiry messages, discovery calls and email subscribers with minimal effort. All I had to do was go and claim it. From there I just do some light updates each month.

Each month I:

  • Add a new photo, offer, or quick tip

  • Check that my hours, contact info, and links haven’t mysteriously vanished

  • Refresh my business description so it matches my current services

Why it works: This helps me show up in local search, builds trust and tells Google I’m still open for business.

Low effort, high reward.

3. I View my Google Analytics + Search Console

Why I do it:
Once upon a time, I created content based on how I felt alone. Sometimes it resonated with people. Most of the time, it was getting no views and no new leads.

Now? I let the data lead. Data helps me decide how to structure my current and future content to ensure it answers the exact questions people are asking.

What I check:

  • Which pages are getting traffic (aka what's working! This might surprise you)

  • Bounce rate and time on site (How long are they staying or not staying on your website)

  • Which keywords people are using to find me

  • Top blog posts or landing pages that are most visited

Why it works: Instead of guessing, I know exactly what content to create, tweak or remove.

4. I Refresh My Social Media Bios + Links (Because First Impressions Matter)

Why I do it:
People are checking my socials out and it is often someone’s first stop after they hear about me. If my bio is confusing or my link goes to a “page not found,” they will question my credibility.

Here’s my monthly checklist:

  • Update my Instagram + LinkedIn bios with clear descriptions + keywords

  • Make sure my link in bio actually leads to something valuable (like a booking page)

  • Remove expired promos or broken links

  • Refresh my highlight covers or pinned posts if needed

Why it works: It’s important that my bio is very clear about exactly who I help, how I help them and what to do next.

5. I Create 2–3 Pieces of Strategic SEO-rich Content

Why I do it:
Every piece of content I make has a purpose: to build trust, bring in leads, or connect with my target market.

Each month, I:

  • Write 2–3 SEO-packed blog posts that speak to established wellness businesses operating in competitive urban markets, like Vancouver

  • Create a few Instagram posts or Reels tied to whatever I’m offering and what is relatable.

  • Draft one email newsletter that actually delivers value

  • Repurpose older content that still fits my current positioning

Why it works: Consistent content builds your authority, keeps your audience warm and improves your SEO.

Why I Do This Every Month

Because consistency works. It works for eating healthy, it works for exercise and of course it works for your wellness business.

Doing these 5 things monthly helps me:

  • Show up online intentionally

  • Stay visible to my prospective clients

  • Keep my digital house clean and conversion-ready

  • Make sure all parts of my brand are aligned with my energy + goals

And as a bonus, it takes less than 5 hours.

This is not about perfection. It’s about being present and intentional with your business.

Your Monthly Online Presence Refresh Checklist:

✅ Audit your website (homepage, offers, CTAs)
✅ Update your Google Business Profile
✅ Check Google Analytics + Search Console
✅ Refresh social bios + test your links
✅ Create 2–3 pieces of content that actually matter

If you are unsure whether your current efforts are sufficient, or you want a clearer picture of how your practice compares to others in your local market, a structured review can provide direction.
